All intelligence practitioners are eligible to apply for membership to the Institute. As your intelligence career develops, your career can grow with the AIPIO and you will receive the appropriate professional recognition.
- Professional Development - cost-effective education and training opportunities provided by AIPIO regionally and nationally.
- Networking Opportunities - through participation in a range of AIPIO activities, including on-line forums and member directories.
- Advocacy - through engaging key intelligence consumers and offering a unified voice for the profession, informed by member views.
- Accreditation - through conferment of an AIPIO membership grading level commensurate with your qualifications and experience.
The AIPIO uses a membership grading system based on a member's experiences, achievements and contributions to the intelligence community to determine the appropriate membership entitlements. There are three levels:
- Fellow: persons with a long and distinguished intelligence career with achievements recognised both within AIPIO and the wider profession.
- Member: persons having completed a recognised course in intelligence theory and practice, and at least three years of relevant experience.
- Associate: persons not yet meeting the requirements for Member but who are working towards that goal, or persons who have an interest in intelligence and wish to affiliate with the Institute.
